Civil War

In Judges 20, the family of God, the Israelites, fought against each other. The whole 11 tribes against the Benjamites.

The whole sons of Israel wanted to fight against the Benjamites in Gibeah, not the whole Benjamite clan. But it shows here in the story that the Benjamite clan sided on their own clan, the Benjamites in Gibeah, instead of the law of truth that the Israelites have long believed.

Lately, it has been taking me longer to understand the passage I am studying. I have a few questions I need to know before I could make a more complete thought about the chapter I am currently at. This might be a good time to approach some bible scholar for help :) So for the meantime... I might post a daily reflection in between my bible study posts.
But while I am searching for answers... I'd greatly appreciate some help with regards to this question.

1. In Judges chapter 20, who is on God's side? The Benjamites or the whole Israel? (This question leads to a few more other questions)
